When I do the math, yes, it makes sense. But I just identify that song with my childhood. I remember it being on popup video or something like that when I was a kid. I'm only 27, god dammit

Eh, I wouldn't read much into it. "Classic Rock" stations are usually pretty random and full of crap anyways. The ones near me have always played a) shit loads of stuff from the 80's, and b) select things from the 90's, usually like Nirvana. It's more of a "sound" than any date thing. Added to the fact that I thiiiiink Blind Melon got onto one of those Rock Band/Guitar Hero games, and got re-popular, it's not terribly surprising to me.
You old fart.

Red Like Roses Part II Extended - RWBY
I've been listening to both RWBY soundtracks a lot lately, mostly hype for the third season starting in a few days, but also because the music is just goddamn awesome. Red Like Roses Part II just gets the blood pumping, and Yang's theme I Burn is ducking awesome as well.

Been listening to OK Go a lot lately. I told tiffaney and she just remarked that I was a few years late >_>
Someone here is really into them, right? Isn't it you, Soup?

I like them but I'm not crazy into them or anything. It might be Rob?

adam was real big on OK Go for a while there.
They're cool but not really the kind of band I get super into. I'll always give something of theirs that's recommended to me a listen though!

"Hey Sandy" by Polaris. Probably more recognizable as the theme song for Nickelodeon's "Pete and Pete" in the 90s. The song itself is second only to Blind Melon's "No Rain" in terms of just pure 90s-ness alt rock. Love it.

got to hear a small, unknown band I got into years ago on the radio this morning. Finally I get to be a music hipster!!! The radio station does a "hit it or quit it" song every morning and people call in to vote it in/out of circulation on the station. In this horrid wasteland of mediocre rock garbage, they actually voted "hit it" for the song!

"Let Me Out" is my absolute favorites of the singles that came out this month, but they're all pretty great. I may do a track-by-track review of the album just for fun later on.

I know people were saying this is a long album, but holy shit tho. Prrrrobably a bit much.

~75% through, I think I agree with the general feeling that it's not their best, but definitely don't get the more vehement hatred. It's a solid 'good', and that's fine.

Yeah with the exception of the singles from earlier this month, nothing in the album really stood out to me at all. Which isn't to say I hate it, but it's going to take a few more listens. Plastic Beach took me several years worth of listens to enjoy.
I've seen a lot of frustration with the album for being very void of Damon and having way too many collaborations. And the argument against that has been that Gorillaz has always been very collaboration-heavy. But I feel like this and Plastic Beach both way overdid it. Gorillaz and Demon Days were both relatively light on collaborations, and when there were collaborations, it was Damon featuring someone. Rather than how Plastic Beach and Humanz feel, where it's mostly collaborators featuring Damon.
I can't tell if I'm just stuck in the past or what though. Demon Days was such an influential album for me in highschool, so I can't possibly be unbiased about it.

I love Plastic Beach, so I can't really say that's really a problem for me, but I can see how someone could be upset about it

I've listened to Humanz a few more times and I like Submission a lot, but I think I'll definitely need a ton more listens for the album as a whole to click. I found myself skipping around the album a bunch during my third and fourth listen. I actually bought a physical copy for my car (no aux port

), so I'll have lots of opportunities!

I use one of those 'broadcast Aux to Radio' things. It sucks, but it's better than nothing.
